Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

This policy explains how Eregar (“we”, “us”), the operator of CourseSnipe at coursesnipe.com (the “Service”), collects, uses and shares information about you. It applies to the website and web app. The Service is offered to people in the United States.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

• Email address, to create your account, send sign-in codes, receipts and notices about your subscription.
• Your semester: your school, priorities, courses and the professors you save, so the Service works and stays the same on all your devices.
• Messages you send to support.

Payment information

Payments are handled by Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. Stripe collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive limited information from Stripe, such as a customer ID, your subscription status, billing country and postal code, and the card brand and last four digits. We never receive or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

• Usage: the screens you view and actions you take (for example choosing a school, starting checkout), with a timestamp.
• Device and browser: a random device identifier stored in your browser, browser type, language, and your IP address (in server logs).
• Browser storage and cookies: we keep your sign-in session, your semester and the device identifier in your browser's local storage. The Meta Pixel sets cookies (such as _fbp and _fbc) used for ad measurement.

3. How we use it

• To provide the Service: sign you in, rank professors for your courses and save your semester.
• To process payments, manage your subscription and send receipts and renewal notices.
• To understand how the Service is used and improve it: our own analytics and PostHog, including session recordings of how pages are used. Recordings hide your email address and sign-in code.
• To measure how well our ads on Facebook and Instagram work.
• To prevent fraud and abuse, keep the Service secure, and meet legal obligations.

4. Ad measurement with Meta

We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. To learn which ads lead to sign-ups and purchases, we use the Meta Pixel in your browser and the Meta Conversions API from our servers. These may send Meta events such as page views, starting checkout and purchases, together with your IP address, browser information, Meta cookie identifiers and, for the Conversions API, a hashed (scrambled) form of your email address. Meta uses this under its own data policy. You can limit this through your Facebook or Instagram ad settings, by blocking third-party cookies in your browser, or by emailing us.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only with providers that help us run the Service:

• Stripe: payments, subscriptions, invoices and the billing portal.
• Supabase: hosting, database and sign-in (including sending sign-in code emails).
• Meta Platforms: ad measurement, as described above.
• PostHog: product analytics and session recordings, stored in the United States.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business. We don't sell your personal information. Some state laws treat ad measurement with Meta as “sharing” for targeted advertising; you can opt out by emailing support@coursesnipe.com.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and semester while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information, except records we must keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons (such as payment records).

7. Security

We use encrypted connections, sign-in by one-time code, and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you as the law requires.

8. Your choices and rights

• See, correct or delete your information: email support@coursesnipe.com from your account's email address.
• Cancel your subscription anytime from your account page.
• Clear your browser's storage and cookies to remove what's kept on your device.
• Depending on your state, you may have more rights, such as opting out of targeted advertising. We won't treat you differently for using them.

9. Children

The Service is for college students and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here with a new date and, for material changes, email you. See also our Terms of Service.
