Terms of Service

1. These terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) cover your use of the CourseSnipe website and web app at coursesnipe.com (the “Service”). The Service is operated by Eregar (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account, subscribing or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Who can use it

The Service is offered to people in the United States only. You must be at least 13 years old to use it. To buy a subscription you must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, or have permission from a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.

3. Your account

You sign in with your email address and a one-time code we email you; there is no password. Keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in to your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at support@coursesnipe.com if you think someone else has accessed it.

4. What the Service does

You choose your school, your courses and what matters to you, and the Service ranks the professors who teach each course using publicly available student ratings and reviews. Rankings, grade distributions, trends and other figures are computed automatically from that information.

• Ratings and reviews are the opinions of individual students. We don't write, verify or endorse them, and they may be incomplete, out of date or wrong.
• A ranking is a guide, not a guarantee of a grade, a workload or a seat in a class. Which professor teaches which section, and whether you can enroll, is up to your school.
• Enrollment and academic decisions are yours. Check your school's official course listings.

5. Subscription, billing and renewal

The plan

The Service is available with a paid subscription. We offer one plan, billed once a year. The price is shown before you pay (currently $49.99 per year, plus any applicable tax).

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay where your device and browser support them. We never see or store your full card number. Charges appear on your statement as COURSESNIPE.

Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically every year at the then-current annual price, and we charge your payment method on file at the start of each new year, until you cancel. If the price changes, we'll email you before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

Cancelling

You can cancel anytime from your account page, which opens our billing portal (run by Stripe), or by emailing support@coursesnipe.com. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the year you already paid for.

Refunds

Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable and we don't give refunds or credits for partly used periods. If you think you were charged in error, email support@coursesnipe.com and we'll look into it.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may retry it. If it still can't be collected, we may pause or end your access until the payment is made.

6. Using the Service fairly

You agree to:

• use the Service only for your own personal, non-commercial use;
• not scrape, copy in bulk, resell or redistribute the Service or its data;
• not use bots or automated tools to access it, or try to get around limits or security;
• not reverse-engineer the Service, except where the law allows it;
• not use it to harass, defame or harm any professor, student or school; and
• follow all laws that apply to you.

We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

7. Intellectual property

The Service's design, code, rankings and analysis are ours or our licensors'. Third-party content shown in the Service, such as student reviews and school names, belongs to its owners. These Terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service while your account is in good standing; they don't transfer any ownership.

8. Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ITS DATA IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR CURRENT. The Service depends on third-party information that we don't control and that may change or stop being available.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE AREN'T LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, ACADEMIC OUTCOMES OR ENROLLMENT DECISIONS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

11. Changes and ending

We may change, suspend or discontinue the Service or any part of it. If we discontinue the Service while you have a paid subscription, we'll refund the unused part of your current year. We may update these Terms; we'll post the new version here with a new date and, for material changes, email you. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it. You can stop using the Service and cancel at any time.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator is based, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer protection laws of your state say otherwise.
